We could vote or Charlie and I could select one.
But it really doesn't matter unless we attach a reward for winning it.
Perhaps a top 3, getting 3-2-1 points for 1st/2nd/3rd

I kinda like these types of rewards given that I am reducing points each year.
I'd prefer a system where teams get their points by earning them.

I think a better system would be points for being more active and getting things in early.
For example
1.PPP submission where the zip file contains the team name and current week. Regular season unless you want to give Non-playoff teams free points.
If submitted by noon on Saturday 1 point. If by 5 pm on Thursday 1.5.

2. Roster Moves .5 If submitted by Wednesday even if it is to say staying the same.

3. Training Camp if a Day early 1 point.

4. All other Deadlines give a .5 or 1 for submitting a day early.

If anything is late -1 point. This can be waived if you are having problems and you are in contract with League officials at least 36 hours before due.

Open teams get full points as if everything is submitted early.

You can lower the point totals to assume all people are submitting a day early and PPP are being submitted by noon on Saturday.

My concerns with giving points for CoY

I am ok with awards getting points. I just worry that it could put undo burden on newer coaches with the current learning curve. If you do CoY maybe do most improved CoY,(look at total career), also. To keep good coaches having a bad season or two and then returning to form.

I am not sure how good this idea is. I really just a popped in my head after reading Rich's idea.

James, as much as I personally would like a rewards system as a coach, others may not be as enthusiastic.
Everyone has real life constraints and it then might seem like a burden to send a roster file in when you have no changes.

As for COY, at no time has the game ever selected this award for the coach with the most wins.
And when we voted, we were able to see value in a coach who won 5 games last season and 10 this year versus the coach who wins 12 last year and 12 this year. Often times the voting goes to the most improved.

If I was selecting my top 3 this year...
#1 Frederic (Saints)
#2 Jerry (Redskins)
#3 Dean (Falcons)

Heck I believe I won CoY when I went 0-16. It might have been a good coaching job but still.

I didn't make that clear. Just send in an email saying no changes by Wednesday. :) I am not even that mean to make someone actually do a roster file if there are no changes. Heck, you could do the same thing with PPP. An email by Wednesday saying everything the same 2 points.

You did win in 2026 and led the league in loses and points allowed :)
In fact, all 3 of your COY awards came with a losing record.
The game is broke!

Look at that team that went 0-16. The fact I scored points was genius coaching.

I like the idea of earning points for the COY award.

I think it would be nice to earn 1 pt for making the playoffs and 2 pts for winning the division. Each playoff win also earns 1 pt.

I don't like this because it gives the experience coaches more of an advantage. There is already a huge learning curve to overcome.
