Pick value in points

Postby Steve-LA Chargers » Sat Mar 12, 2022 7:02 am

I’m curious if you guys agree with this as a baseline to help trades, reduce price gouging, and promote fair value.

7th = .5
6th = 1
5th = 1.5
4th = 2
3rd = 2.5
2nd = 3 (10-18 or future pick); 3.5 (1-9)
1st = 4-9 (future pick) depending on coach)
4 (17-18)
4.5 (15-16)
5 (13-14)
5.5 (11-12)
6 (9-10)
6.5 (7-8)
7 (5-6)
7.5 (4)
8 (3)
8.5 (2)
9 (1)

Aa an example, I traded my 1st, 3rd and 5th to Detroit for #7 and 5 points.

LA
1st (4-9) + 3rd (2.5) + 5th (1.5) = 8-13

DET
#7 (6.5) + 5 = 11.5

This would mean it was a fair trade with downside potential for Detroit. Detroit is assuming the risk of losing value if LA plays well in 2040 and their 1st ends up anywhere between #5-18. And yes, it is possible that the 1-15 season was just the beginning of a few bad seasons for LA.

It isn't bad though. I am not sure I agree with the late round. I usually go 2 picks of previous round is equal to that round pick. Like 2 7ths equal a 6th. I also veiw future picks a little lower than current draft picks.

Are you saying the #1 overall pick = 9 pts?

You can create whatever chart you want but I would never trade my 1st rd pick for those amounts of points.
What if I already have 50 points?
Why would James who has 237 points need 9 more?
Trying to tie picks and points is 100% subjective.

The NFL uses a value chart as a extra piece of info when deciding what to do. Never anything wrong with using tools to analyze things as you make decisions, but ultimately you have to decide what to do

I could always use more points :). I want all the points. I will admit I like how people say oh you have all those points so they don't matter to you so you can throw in extra. The reason I have so many is I don't throw in extra or give them away for nothing.

Value of picks depends a lot of the draft. I would also say using NFL charts doesn't work in PNFL since Talent spread is different. NFL I would almost never take a HB or WR in the first round. PNFL I would take the top WR number 1 or 2 almost every season. NFL QB almost always need to go 1st round or early 2nd in PNFL in most draft I wouldn't take one until late 2nd to early 3rd.

One thing I have learned mostly from fantasy football, is that everyone values everything completely different. Everyone has their own likes/dislikes, and usually value their own guys more than you do, which is how they ended up with them in the first place. That being said, I give an open invitation for anyone to give me their second round picks for 3 pts until I’m out of pts
