2038 Draft Format

Postby Rich-League Officer » Tue Jan 12, 2021 5:02 pm

Now is the time to discuss this!!!
Do we:
#1 Go back to draftsock where its done in 3 hours but there is far less player movement because I can't sit around for 20 minutes while you negotiate.

#2 Stay on the forum as we have been doing. It will take between 6-10 days. Lots of player movement. Lots of carping about how long each coach is taking.

#3 Something entirely new? Something old but with new rules?

Now is the time to yell at each other about this but whatever we do has to take into consideration that the idea is to include as many coaches as possible, not just to make you happy because it fits your life.

#2 plus

Limit us to 30 minutes per pick and picks made by list or directions, in rounds 2-7.

2 hour limits for posting first round picks.

For each round, create a list of "default picks" for each pick by position, as Steve did in XFBS. That is your pick if you fail to submit a list, directions, or post a pick within the allotted time.

Draft Stock. I only spend few hours focused on the league where people get annoyed how long something takes. People seem to forgets trades weren't rare on draft stock. I think forum might have a few more but there still was quite a few trades using draft stock.

I am 100% against a timed forum draft. I do now have the time to dedicate a weeks to this league just so we can have a fast forum draft. The whole point of forum draft is to be more casual and relax not to be super stressful and demanding of time. I don't need my hobbies to feel like or add stress just because people don't seem to have a concept that PNFL might not even be in your top 5 of things you are focusing on that day. I like most of you but during a forum draft I find most of post emails annoying and over the top with impatience. Oh and if I hear one more person says send a list. Why should my picks loss value because you think everything should happen instantly? It does lose value because without knowing the lead up picks there could be a run on a position of need so I have to change the direction of the pick.

The other thing I would ask is if you are going push get on people and annoy the crap out of them to get them to pick on your time table how long do you think they will stay in the league. We talk about the struggle to keep owners and to get new owners but we keep pushing ideas that will drive owners away. A time forum draft will in the long term kill the league.

Draft stock. For reasons James stated and a draft should not be this long drawn out process where you get to mull over, fart and decide if you want to strike a trade up or select a player.

Never mind the timed selections where you are getting hate messages because you are not available to make a selection at the very moment your turn to select is up.

6 days vs 3 hours ultimately what it boils down to and I'd rather get it done and over with than have this long drawn out process that doesn't allow for life to intervene.

Total draft stock or total forum, no hybrid drafts to attempt to appease both sides. Make a decision and let's move forward.

How about forum for rounds 1-4 with a fairly relaxed schedule and draftsock/lists for rounds 5-7?

If we're going to use draft stock at all, we do it from day 1 and be done. No hybrid drafts. Justin's idea is actually feasible, gives way to both in its entirety for even and odd drafts.

Then why not do the entire draft via the forum and who cares if it take 10-12 days? Are we in a rush?
