In light of the occasional comment that our passing game has become anemic, I have seen a proposal to lengthen the passing zones for the Pass Medium categories. It is suggested that the PNFL adopt the XFBS standard, noted below. It is slightly different and less restrictive than we currently have and in theory, would open up the mid-range passing game. As usual, I would appreciate your comments for further discussion. If generally agreed upon, it could be implemented this season through the introduction of new Custom Plays. The more people that comment, the better the feel we would have for the suggested change.
In the Pass Medium categories (XFBS):
The Primary (white) receiver path and end spot must stay within (not on, at, or beyond) 20-yards of the LOS, the zone
The Secondary (yellow) receiver path and end spot must stay within (not on, at, or beyond) 25-yards of the LOS, the zone.
A third, fourth, or fifth receiver can have their pattern go longer than 25 yards but must have "Look for Pass" logic before they touch 25-yards from the LOS. Their path can take them anywhere.
For plays saved as PMR, the end spot of the Primary receiver's route should be 5 or more yards from the LOS unless it is a screen (as the purpose of the PMR category is to get at least 10 yards).

I vote no. We just defined a PL play. Design and put it in the PL category where it belongs

Re: Proposed Rule Change
Giving the second (yellow) receiver 5 more yards is NOT PL, PL allows the second and other receivers to go unlimited depth as long as they have "look for pass within 25 yards of the LOS.
The proposed rule is VERY medium, not long.

Re: Proposed Rule Change
My point is you can make that play right now. Nothing stopping you. It would just be in the PL category

Re: Proposed Rule Change
Make some attribute changes, that's something we haven't broken in a long time and could fix instead of creating new rules, how bout we use PLL plays for those new plays?
I'm not open to any new rules either.
I like innovation, but will be the same shit different toilet.

Re: Proposed Rule Change
I confess, I cannot even comment on this rule proposal because I have no clue what these current plays even look like in the editor anymore.
It's been 8 seasons since I coached so I'm a noob now.
It appears as though most coaches do not want to change anything.
I would ask you all, how offended would you be if the rookies looked like they did back in 2017.

Scroll these teams and look for the rookies.
