2037 Salary cap

I just took a first look at next season’s cap numbers, and I must say, the increases seem WAY more drastic than in the past. Teams that are now comfortably under the cap are projected to be $40-$50 million over this year’s number. I am not grasping the explanation. What will the cap be? Is it not as bad as it looks? Can any other owners weigh in with some thoughts?

I think it is the same as before. AT least mine was about where I expected. You have the escalation of the rookies to their year 1 numbers from their low draft year cap figure. Depending on the position you drafted, the numbers escalate higher. I also think we had more of us at the cap to see the draftee escalation this season. Plus, we still have a few teams low. If the lower teams had competed for a few players, there would be a few million less on others caps. I think the higher anti aging (Which I like) is contributing to slightly older quality players hanging around. They obviously eat up cap.

I also have felt the cap will likely end up being a little higher as the new rules slowly creep in. The one opposite pressure will be the newer draft style. The talent is more up and down. That may put a lower pressure on caps down the road.

I've been slowly transitioning to balanced rosters by age. Trying to spread out the cap hit. Hard to do that when you are trying to put the best team on the field. I'm still deciding how to spread the cap by position considering the value added. I haven't completely figured than out yet.

Will the cap be $210,000,000 in 2037 as well?

It always looks its worst at this point in the season.
After teams start to cut down, it will look a bit more reasonable.
But having said that, I see what you see too which is why I am leaning toward a raise in the cap.
The goal remains to redistribute "talent" to all teams though, not make the cap easy for everyone.

I should also add that I will not make it so difficult that we see stars in free agency as 18 teams are scraping the ceiling
But I need time to determine the exact figure. And you have plenty of time to adjust.
