Recently I've shared my concern about the low rushing stats in the league, especially yards per carry. Right now, 9 teams (50% of the league) have a yards per carry avg of 4.0 or less with 6 of those 9 teams at 3.8 or less. However, as I look at the individual rushing stats, 29 of our 30 top rushers avg over 4.0 yards per carry with 17 averaging over 4.5 yards per carry. Something seems off to me...
When I look at the 6 teams that avg less than 4.0 yards per carry, something stands out about their individual rushing stats. The QBs on these teams have a solid number of carries yet horrid rushing yards. Why? Well, I assume it's from sacks counting as runs for timed passes and some rollouts.
If that's the case, it makes sense to why our top rushers have solid ypc stats yet our team ypc stats are somewhat low.
My new theory is teams with poor rushing stats likely have a pass protection problem vs a rushing problem.
Any thoughts on this theory?

Re: Rushing Stats
I assume you are correct. While not exactly one for one. The most sacked teams trend toward the bottom of rushing stats. Pass play calls make a difference in sacks.
