If we are going to do any dice rolls, we might as well keep the current system as we already know that system and have adjusted to it.

• Agreed, we have adjusted to the automatic unretirement of young players, which is unrealistic in the NFL.
• Agreed, we have adjusted to the restoration of attributes that have deteriorated because of age, which is also unrealistic in the NFL.
• Agreed, we have adjusted to the transfer of physicals from one player to another to save him, about as unrealistic as you can get in the NFL.
• Agreed, we have adjusted to an arbitrary age threshold to make players take physicals for potential retirement, which is more than double the NFL averages.
• Agreed, we have let our players stay at max attributes in their later careers that they achieved in their third or fourth year, which is also unrealistic in the NFL.
• Agreed, we have built in random enhancements to Rookies to emulate the NFL possibilities of ‘diamonds in the rough’, but have not randomly reduced anyone.
• Agreed, we have done a lot of things to make the League better and to mimic the NFL.
But, when we come up with an idea that mimics the NFL aging process, which could eliminate the current physicals formula, transfers, and possibly the current retirement process, where you have control over aging players who may or may not stay on your team, and maybe enhance the FA Pool, we want to reject it because of additional work. What work are we talking about, since I volunteered to do all the manual labor? If I ran the process I suggested and Rich dumped the file to you, you would still run all the analysis you run today and make cuts, trades, FA bids, and draft picks accordingly. My philosophy regarding the PNFL, and many things in my life, is that “Good Enough” was not acceptable if there was a better way to do something.

If it's not going to slow down the pace of the season and off-season, let's go for it.

This scenario is why we need to continue trusting the stewards of the league to make some changes in its best interests. Otherwise, nothing ever seems like it gets done.
*** PROPOSAL ***
Instead of requiring a majority vote to pass change(s), why not let Rich / Charlie guide the league and just post their plan(s) for an official vote? If a majority of owners vote NO, it wouldn't commence, otherwise they can proceed. This method would stop handcuffing them, yet still allow owners the ability to override anything wildly unpopular.

I think we still need to leave the door open to suggestions from the league in general; however, it's at their discretion. My main thing is we need to keep the league attractive to new blood, so we can keep it going, but we don't want to alienate any more of the guys we have than necessary. I think Rich and Charlie do a good job of managing the chaos, so I agree with Donovan.

Re: Simulating Attribute Aging in the PNFL
I got ambitious and put together a spreadsheet that will do the following:
- Randomly select 2 attributes and reduce them by 1 pt each
- POT of randomly reduced attribute will equal the new ACT
- New ratings can easily by copy and pasted back into an export file to be put back into the game
I've attached a sample of our QBs and HBs based on the age they need a physical:

I can adjust the number of categories to be used in the random selection. EX: We wouldn't include IN and DI in the final version.

Re: Simulating Attribute Aging in the PNFL
I re-read Charlie's proposal and excluded IN and DI from the random selections. In this snapshot, there are 2 random attributes selected from only 6 total attributes. Each selected category was reduced by 1 pt. ACT doesn't exceed POT in the selected categories.

No one, including QBs, Ps, Ks, should lose any IN and DI. Real life players do not lose skill in those areas, they become no longer useful as players (esp QBs) because their physical skills decline.

That looks better.
