Re: Bills Mafia news
Post game news after week 2 loss at Denver:
The game began with a fumble by HB Johnson on the 3rd snap of the game. Denver quickly capitalized. Later in the 1st half QB Williams threw the first of his two INTs. Denver capitalized on this turnover as well. We rallied back to take a 21-20 lead late in the second half but couldn’t prevent Denver from getting into FG range to hold our lead. In the final minutes WR Ausbon returned a kickoff deep into Denver territory but it was called back by a illegal block penalty by TE Axelson. Our final hail mary fell short so Denver got the win.
This week we face the Jets for the second time in three weeks and then we face the defending champions in week 4. Despite the looming possibility of going 0-4 to start the season, we are considering benching players that contributed to the loss in Denver to send a message to the team. QB Williams for his poor performances in two games, RB Johnson for his fumble, and TE Axelson for his illegal block may all be benched. This roster move will be decided in the next couple of days

Re: Bills Mafia news
As announced over the weekend, the Bills have temporarily benched QB Williams, HB Johnson and TE Axelson. Per the coach, "Time to see what we have with Dorian Thompson-Robinson 'DTR' at QB. He definitely won't overthink his reads and has shown more accuracy in practice. We love Caleb. He is the future of this franchise, but he recently has shown in his last three starts that he still needs time to work on his game before he is the unquestionable starter at QB. We would love it if DTR can pull off the victory in our home opener. We've also elevated CB Valentine higher in the depth chart. Despite his lack of speed he seems to have an opportunist flare we'll need against a team like the Jets. We have no injuries, so the rest of the team is ready to go."
Putting my ratings threshold theory to the test against the best this week. Should be interesting.

Re: Bills Mafia news
"It's now DTR's job to lose." per coach Corbett. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson surprised his doubters across the league this weekend to lead the Bills over the ever dangerous Jets in Buffalo's home opener. Despite being called "the worst QB in the league" and "a UCLA fan draft pick lucky to be on any roster" he managed to lead the offense to amass 401 total yards against the Jets including contributing 2 rushing TDs and 61 yards on the ground on his own. "He seemed slightly out of sync several times early in the game. Even overlooked a completely wide open player underneath at one point, but his confidence grew with each down and he deservedly was awarded Player of the Game. No changes going into next week against the defending champions. We are going to push forward and see how far he can take us."

A QB2 4 Dorian Robinson OK 3 0-0 0 80 78 80 96 70 87 87 83
81 78 81 96 70 87 87 83
Those are his ratings. Quite good in everything except IN. Apparently, the lack of those 4-5 points in IN did not hold him back in performance very much.

Re: Bills Mafia news
I'd say the offensive plan fit what he is good at and the Bills 3rd down defense was an important part. I would say the coach did a pretty good job this week putting him in the right position.

Re: Bills Mafia news
Looks like a QB change is happening in Buffalo again. "Unfortunately, we have seen a steady decline in DTR's performance since the victory over the Jets. Against Indianapolis's solid defense he was undeniably unremarkable. Part of the blame goes to our receivers not getting open and part of the credit goes to the Colts defense, but there comes a point when you need a big play that only the QB can provide to spark the offense. He didn't provide that spark. In fact, his deepest pass was 20 yards. He threw for less than 200 yards against the Colts and is currently the 16th ranked QB in the league with a dismal QBR of 80.2. At 1-4 we realize we need to make a change. Caleb Williams will be starting this week. If he performs like he did in week 1, we will reconsider DTR as the guy, but for now the job is Caleb's to lose."

Re: Bills Mafia news
Coming off a 4 game win streak and its most lopsided victory this season, the Bills are now 5-4 and looking to catch up to the the Colts and the Jets. In a surprise move, the Bills acquired retiring veteran stars DE Zach Allen and CB Kevin King from Chicago, sending DE Andre Carter II and HB Roschon Johnson to Chicago. Per the coach, "We started the second half of the season on a great note with our victory over the Raiders and we want to keep that momentum going. It's time to get serious and try to make a run. We still have a good shot at the playoffs. Other than against the Raiders, we have allowed an appalling amount of yards and points. DE Allen and CB King bring game changing talent to our defense at the right time. We face a tough 6-3 Washington this week, a team I haven't been able to defeat for a while. I see them as the team to beat in the NFC. Getting a victory over them would be huge for us at this point in the season. As for, DE Carter and HB Johnson, it was tough decision to send them to Chicago considering they are both young players with a lot of upside. Hopefully they will get a lot more playing time in Chicago than they did with us. I wish them the best." When asked about the QB situation, Coach Corbett said, "There is no QB situation. Caleb is our starter. He's won 4 in a row and has the 2nd highest QBR in the league right now. That said, we might need to sign another backup QB as insurance. Like I said, it's time to get serious."

Re: Bills Mafia news
Today the Bills signed QB Justin Herbert for three seasons (including the current) to be the primary back up to Caleb Williams. To make room for this move, the Bills released QB Dorian "DTR" Robinson. Per the coach, "DTR had his time and we were able to make a full evaluation. We realized it was time to make a move like this to bring in a veteran who would be better capable of taking on the starter role if anything happens to Caleb."
Editor's note:
DTR will always be remembered as the QB who threw the ugliest 99 yard INT returned for a TD we ever saw yet somehow beat the Jets with his legs. He was a good way to test the ratings out as well. Clearly a 78 AC means there is less power behind his throws. He can throw deep with that 96 ST but it was like watching a floating ball go up for grabs by anyone, especially when thrown toward covered receivers which happened too often. Yes, other QBs out there have 78 AC or lower including Mac Jones, but this is offset by 90+ IN which ensures they are more likely to choose the open receivers so their check passes (which are essentially lobs by the way) are less likely to be picked off. Because of his 87 IN, he struggled to find the open receiver on checked pass plays, often forcing it into double/triple coverage. With Justin Herbert, the Bills get a player with 80 AC and 90 IN. That's a swing of 5 points! His only drawback is his 69 HA which can be boosted to 70 in the next TC. Just better overall than DTR and thus better suited to serve as the back up on a team still capable of making a run.
