Not that many surprises in the poll as some may think. Just look at the team rosters. Sure looks like LV and Den had near top of the league rosters. Getting better at the play calling yes, but definitely better rosters than the majority of teams.

I see Pitt and SF as the two biggest with Denver being new and doing well:

Top Rosters
Chicago Cardinals
Washington Redskins
Denver Broncos
Minnesota Vikings
Houston Oilers
New York Jets
Los Angeles Chargers
Las Vegas Raiders
Indianapolis Colts
New England Patriots
Green Bay Packers
Pittsburgh Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Giants
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
Philadelphia Eagles
Atlanta Falcons

Is this ranking based on numerical analysis of the rosters? What is the criteria?

Rich's proprietary SALCAP numbers. They show the relative value of players. Just look at the Points Tab in the contract file.

The truth is the data is not proof of causation, but if you look at the data over time you would have to assume that the best PPP's and rosters are mostly the same people every year to ignore the team records and talent rankings. Ultimately there are multiple things that go into it. The best game plan can over come talent and vice versa. Maybe a team has the right talent in key spots and/or the PPP takes best advantage of the key talent. I think Washington is a good example. I spend minimal time on game planning each week during the season. It's cannot be a coincidence that as the young talent matured after swapping teams, the record got better and better. It's clearly a combination of things but if the top roster managers are also the top PPP builders then the wider the talent spread the larger advantage they will have every week.

I agree we should have a wider spread, but an instant change and/or going to really large ranges will only let the top teams advantages grow in my opinion.

His cap values heavily favor EN though. Kind of obvious.

Vegas gets my nod because he had to make a huge come back and needed me to lose to Denver to get in ... needed a lot of perseverance and luck to accomplish that

Rich's cap values are close to my ratings value for the players and EN is not heavily favored in mine, but if Rich says one player is better than another, I will go with him 100% of the time. He has earned that deference.

Like I have said multiple times. Rich's roster beat mine in sims even when the PPP's were swapped. Most deflating thing ever. Made you feel like your chances to win were near impossible. His GM skills are the absolute best.
