The PNFL salary system uses Points to sign players.
We also allow each team to use 3 different types of Player Tags to sign their own players.
**You cannot TAG a player who already has a contract for the upcoming season**

1. Franchise Tag (XF)
All aged players are eligible.
This player will receive a 1-year contract and is unable to be bid on by other teams at the designated time.
His salary will also be the max for his position. (pnfl currently has no salary cap)

2. Transition Tag (XT)
All aged players are eligible.
This player will receive a 1-Year contract but is subject to bidding during a 72 hour window that exposes all tagged players.
His salary will be the average of the top 5 players at his position. (pnfl currently has no salary cap)

3. Restricted Tag (XR)
Teams are allowed 2 XR per season.
Only players aged 1-2-3-4-5 are eligible.
These players will receive a 3-Year contract but are subjected to bidding during a 72 hour window that exposes all tagged players.
Their salary is based on their actual talent level generated by the league.

Bidding on Tagged Players
During a 72 hour (3 day) window, all tagged players are exposed to bidding by all 18 teams.
Only Franchise players are excluded.
Bidding takes place at the same time as standard open free agency is also occurring.
Bidding procedure is identical to standard free agency.
With one exception, if your tagged player is bid on, you do not participate in the bidding.
Bids begin at 1 point and can increase in 1/2 point increments.
The winning bid is final after 24 hours of no new posted bids.

Once a winner is declared, the original tagged player's team is notified and he has 24 hours to match the offer or allow the player to leave.
The contract length for a Transition Player remains 1-Year whether the player leaves or not.
The contract length for a Restricted Player is dependant on the final bid points.
Should a Restricted Player end up on a new team and signed for 1 point, he receives a 1-Year contract.
If he signs for 2 points, he receives a 2-Year contract. If he signs for 3+ points, he receives a 3-Year contract.
This only applies should the player change teams. In the case where a team matches any bid, the restricted player retains his 3-Year contract.

*The 72 hour window applies to the posting of new players on the forum.
Bidding itself may extend beyond 72 hours of players already on the board.

*Tagged players are eligible to be traded before or during the bidding process. But, they still remain vulnerable to another team offering them a contract. So buyer beware in acquiring a tagged player before/during that 72 hour window.
