2036 draft order *Official*

Postby Justin-Chicago » Mon Jan 13, 2020 6:14 pm

Usually somebody has posted by this point, but here is what I have figured out, and the tiebreakers...please verify my work:

Carolina
Miami
Jacksonville
Oakland
LA Rams
Pittsburgh
Green Bay
Buffalo
Detroit
San Francisco
Seattle
Washington
Atlanta
Indianapolis
LA Chargers
Chicago
New York A
New York N

In situations where teams finished the previous season with identical records, the determination of draft position is decided by strength of schedule — the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents. The team that played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage will be awarded the higher pick.
If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:

1. Head-to-head, if applicable
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
3. Strength of victory in all games
4. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
5. Best net points in all games
6. Best net touchdowns in all games
7. Coin toss

Tie Break is just Strength of schedule for draft
1. Carolina
2. Miami
3/4. Jacksonville/Oakland Coin Flip
5.LA Rams
6.Pittsburgh
7. Green Bay
8. Buffalo
9. Detroit
10. San Fran
11. Seattle
12. Washington
13. Atlanta
14. Indianapolis
15. LA Chargers
16.Chicago
17. NY Jets
18. NY Giants

We could use normal tie breaker which would give 3. Oakland but the official NFL would be a coin flip and alternating pick so winner of flip would pick 3rd odd rounds and 4th even rounds.

I am wrong I guess the NFL changed their rules before 2019 season.

Yep, that is excerpted from the current NFL rules. This is the pertinent part for Jacksonville and Oakland:

If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division tiebreakers are applied.

Jacksonville wins the divisional tiebreaker with Oakland (3-5 vs 1-7)

Correct, the fact that Jacksonville "WON" more makes the case for Oakland being #3. The loser in the case of the tie-breaker, had the more worse 5-11 which would make them the team that picks before the better 5-11 team.

I believe Jacksonville should be 3, and Oakland 4. Look at the way the other tiebreakers are phrased. They don't say "loser of..."

Objection Noted...

Charlie and I discussed it, and we believe the worst team should get the pick.
We try to use the NFL as a guide but ultimately we have our own rules.
Besides, the only way to really know what the NFL would do in this identical situation would be to call the NFL offices.

Even then, we think Oakland with a 1-7 is worse than Jacksonville with a 3-5.
I think you know it too :)

If that's the case, then shouldn't Oakland be 3 and Jacksonville 4? IF Oakland is the worse team? 3 would be worse than 4 in this case.

Well if you are going to create your own rules, go ahead and post them. This league has always used the NFL rules for this as long as I can remember.

I would venture that a team with a -142 point differential is clearly worse as you would say than a team with a -52. But, as you said, you and Charlie can discuss it and decide the worse team however you want, on a case by case basis.
