League Realignment

Postby Matt-Jacksonville » Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:10 am

With all the open teams and relocation moves, I think we need to seriously consider realignment as well. Here is a proposal I came up with that tries to keep teams some what geographically realistic.

AFC

East
NY Jets
Cincinatti
Pittsburgh
Miami(Open)

West
Kansas City
LA Chargers
Denver (Open)
Jacksonville
Oakland(Open)

East
NY Giants
Atlanta
Washington
Dallas(Open)

West
Chicago
San Francisco
Green Bay
Detroit
New Orleans (Open)

I saw keep the LA RAMs in the NFC West vs New Orleans. You could put New Orleans in the NFC East to give Atlanta their natural rivals since Washington and NYG are natural rivals.

Rams are becoming KC so movement to the AFC West makes sense.

Admittedly, I had to make a decision of moving Detroit OR Atlanta to the NFC West. Atlanta might make more sense if we make New Orleans the Open team and we would have the old NFC West with Atlanta, SF, and NO. The only reason I moved Detroit there was for GB/Det, but Jerry and James I think have developed a bit of a rivalry, so if Mitch has no objection we can move Atlanta instead.

No, I'm staying in the East with Jerry and the boys. Feel free to make the open team for the East the New Orlean Saints and make the open team in the NFC West the LA Rams.

2-cents worth; I would like to see the Seahawks in the NFC West rather than the Saints.

With Dan's move I think we can accommodate that.

James is going to hate this proposal for sure.

Let's be serious, do you really want to make it that easy for the Chargers to win their division?. If you lump in KC (one playoff visit), Jax (swept by LAC for two seasons), and two open teams, it's almost a forgone conclusion the Bolts are a playoff team. This is no knock on Dean and Matt - you could both very well rise up and kick my ass - just looking at it from a recent history focus.
