I appreciate you lower the number of players in the pool. I believe this created more realism and tougher GM decisions.

I think the opposite. Forces people to other positions and not making a mistake to fill a gap. It's more of an east button

I think the draft has some deficiencies weighted in favor of the offense. There is a 3x higher rate of players with max-potential rates for offense over defense in some key potentials:
____________

60 WRs in our league have max POT speed (84)
8% in this draft do (5)

57 CBs in our league have max POT speed (83)
Only 3.5% in this draft do (2)
____________

39 RBs in our league have max POT speed (83)
15% in this draft do (6)

52 LBs in our league have max POT speed (76)
Only 5% in this draft do (3)
____________

48 OT in our league have max POT str (99)
10% in this draft do (5)

37 DT in our league have max POT str (97)
Only 2.7% in this draft does (1)

So when we're adding 15% more RBs with top-end speed and only putting 5% of LBs the same pool (or WRs > CBs or OL > DL), this will result an unbalanced game over time. Are we trying to nerf defenses?

What this also does is make DEF rookies much less valuable than existing vets. When you have 57 CBs with 83 POT speed (that's over 3 per team) and then you only add 2 in the entire draft who could ever reach that same level, then DEF draft picks are worth much less than in the past and don't measure up to existing players.

Admittedly, I haven't looked OPERALL acts/pots of this draft vs past drafts vs existing rosters, so maybe DEF players are equivalent overall idk, but a cursory glance at these key defensive ratings showed a distinct trend that the DEF rookies are undervalued and need bumped up.

@Donovon

Interesting analysis!

The other option would be lower the OFF POTs to match the DEF.

I will not analyze the positions completely, but here is my take on the HB SP position.

With the addition of the Rookies and before retirements, the six HBs (83 SP) rank in overall POT as follows, based on my weighting factors.

19th; 41st; 59th; 62nd; 70th; and 102nd.

Of those, only one has 83 ST, two have 82 ST; three have 81 ST; and one has 80 ST.

I think you would get an interesting discussion on which of these players are potential superstars disadvantaging the LB position.

Rookie RBs have sucked for a while so probably a balance up way overdue. :P

I like that there’s some variation year to year, I think Charlie also has done a really good job incorporating the feedback and discussions.

Give it time…

My only take is, good, bad or ugly is all good.
If one side of the ball is neglected, who cares.
The NFL draft just saw the first 14 players taken all be Offense!
In my life, I have never seen that.

The only pressure I would put on Charlie is to get the future draft out as early as possible so teams can prepare for whatever it is.

We just got spoiled with having 1st round talent available in the 5th and 6th rounds for so many years. Now that Charlie is leaning into creating differentiation between players, most players probably look like "scrubs' to many of you.
