TRASH talk about my off-season roster moves

Postby Dean-Atlanta » Mon Feb 27, 2023 9:01 pm

For all of those talking TRASH in the e-mails about my trades and roster moves, including crazy conspiracy theories related to Justin Fields, and others ludicrous ideas, here is the real reason for some of my moves, for those who care to understand before they talk TRASH. Look at this list:

QB Nathan Peterman
TE Austin Hooper
TE Tyler Davis
TE Nick Eubanks
C Keith Ismael
T Landon Young
DT Jonathan Marshall
LB Alex Anzalone
LB Buddy Johnson
S Eddie Jackson
S Rashaan Gaulden

What are those you ask That is all the player talent I had to release, to dump into FA and get nothing for them, to get to 53 roster spots before Rich hit start new season. it is a reflection of shortcomings in my work as a team GM that I have not been better to reduce my roster closer to 53 and find myself having to dump those players to cut down to 53. Some of those were RED players who played their last season after failing their physicals, but at least 7 of them were not. Getting into the practice of carrying 8-10 players on PS is not good roster management IMO, and I have no done well in that department. Also, getting into the habit of carrying players of any value on PS is not a good idea when I had 2.5 points and someone can bid none of my PS players for 3 points and I can not match it.

So my goal in these moves is to get closer to 53 by the time TC comes up and be able to more painlessly reduce to 53 players at the end of the 2042 season where I have only ONE Red player to cut. I was too quick to trade T Goedeke for a 3rd round pick and received an offer of a 2nd after doing that, which made since as he was drafted in the 2nd round.

Now you can all go back to Tonya Harding and White balloons...

Regarding those players:

QB Nathan Peterman -- failed formere backup, expendable, originally signed a 1 point FA
TE Austin Hooper -- RED player
TE Tyler Davis -- player I traded for
TE Nick Eubanks -- just won by another team in FA
C Keith Ismael -- player I traded for
T Landon Young -- player I trade for
DT Jonathan Marshall -- 7th round pick
LB Alex Anzalone -- RED player
LB Buddy Johnson -- 7th round pick
S Eddie Jackson -- player I traded for
S Rashaan Gaulden -- just won by another team in FA

The idea is to carry closer to 53 on roster and not have to dump as much talent at the end of the season to reduce to 53.

Oddly enough, I'm doing the same thing with a slightly different approach. Cutting down to 53 won't be a problem at all for me next season with 7 retiring players. And I still have seven 2043 draft picks and lots of talented, youthful depth behind my 'ancient' starters. There might actually be a method to my madness. ;)

You two were in the Championship. You do not have to justify your moves to anyone. Of course, Washington is coming for a little revenge and yes I still believe the Falcons freaked out about the championship turnovers and panicked

To quote AC/DC, it's long way to the top if you want to rock and roll...and there are EIGHT other NFC teams that want to go to the big game in 2042 including the team with the big W on their helmet. My team finished the season 12-7 total wins and losses and there are reasons for those 7 losses and things that need to be worked on for this coming season.

The real inside scoop:

QB Nathan Peterman – Seriously considering a trans-gender operation.
TE Austin Hooper – Under investigation for domestic violence.
TE Tyler Davis – Considering switching from Democratic to Republican.
TE Nick Eubanks – Bench presses 280, in his dreams.
C Keith Ismael – Drags three-foot putts to keep his handicap low.
T Landon Young – dresses in Drag when visiting San Francisco.
DT Jonathan Marshall – Identifies as a woman when away for road games.
LB Alex Anzalone – Failed both the physical and mental tests.
LB Buddy Johnson – Secretly dating Kamala Harris.
S Eddie Jackson – Going back to school, since he failed the 5th grade.
S Rashaan Gaulden – Seen working out with the Cheerleaders!

Low budget background check service employed by the 49ers. They missed TE Tyler Davis being the president of the Scott Adams fan clubs (and his confederate flags) and T Landon Young performing in Drag with Kitara Ravache, better know as George Anthony Devolder Santos.
