Here's a couple of ideas to discussion:
1) Random "Busts" for 1st round picks - 2 1st round picks have 2 POT pts reduced. No more than 1 pt for a category.
2) Random "Holdouts" for 1 round picks - 3 1st round picks demand 5 pts to sign prior to training camp.

I still think my idea is the best have the randomness be assign to a player. I prefer knowledge of the risk I am taking vs just pure randomness.

You could easily build a spreadsheet that generates a random number between 1-100 then applied whatever boost or reduction as needed into a file that Rich then upload into the file. Heck he could do it at the beginning of the season and just hide pots in league files until after the draft.

How about the draft takes 7 days.
Day One, All teams submit a list of 18 players to me and I release the results of round 1 based on those lists.
Repeat rounds 2-7 rounds.
Nobody has to wait on the clock

The POTs can be hidden, the problem is Charlie creates the draft and he's a coach.
So if he's involved in the process he would have advanced knowledge for sure.
The only way is to apply a randomness to each player post draft.
Not sure who's going to like that

No, we would have what Charlie submits.
Say player a has a 10% of a +1 boost across the board and 20% of a -1 reduction across the board. We would know what his base pots and what those chance are just like Charlie. What we wouldn't know is what the results of the random number generator since it changes every time you open the spreadsheet. That meaning only Rich would know the results and could hide the pots in the league files.
It would still be random but it would be a known random. It means if you like taking risk you might take a guy with 10% chance of being 100% pot WR but 20% of being a complete bust with a late 1st round pick.

It is an interesting idea, not sure everyone would sign on to this though

The beauty of it is we could do as many or as few players as we want. We could test it instead of a random boost select say 59 players(1-K,P,3-QB,FB,TE,C and 5 from the rest) who would be 5-7th round grades and not top 5 in their position give them 5% chance of +2 to all pots(not over max) and 10% to get +1 to all pots. The gamble would be taking them early. It would stop the selecting all CB in the 7th round hoping to hit the boost.

I think anything like this also has to have downside for players too.
Creating as you say, a known randomness element.

I think that might be where people fight it. That was why I suggested the test of 5% and 10% on average it create 3 +2 and 6 +1. There might be years where a bunch get +2 or 0 do. There is a good chance those that might end up being top 10 at there position with the +2 might get drafted earlier 2nd or 3rd round and end up being a complete bust if they don't get the boost. If you pick the players right there will be no need for a downside. Drafting 7th round talent in the 3rd round can be downside enough.
