I did a test, that is the number each folder can hold before there will be plays that will not show when you try to load them in a game plan.
PML (378) and PML (413) are the closest to that.
I could easily find 20 of my PML and PSL plays I would agree to being deleted.

Re: 520 plays
Dean, I don't care if the number is 5,000 plays in each folder.
I hate useless plays in the folders and I will continue to recommend deleting plays to Charlie until I die
If coaches do not use the plays, there is a reason why.
The league is not hurt or enhanced by those 1700 plays that were deleted.
Nothing has changed.

I am 100% with Rich on this. More plays just to have more plays isn't a good thing. I would say the more junk or ineffective plays hurts the league. It just creates more for coaches to dig through and decreases the chance of actually picking good plays.

Re: 520 plays
I am so confused at this discussion. If a play deleted is supposedly, after never being called, good, just resubmit the doggone thing. We are in the computer age and they are saved. We are spending time on a little issue. Its like the plays have been banned or something... Its draft time, lets have fun poking people like "flies on feces" stuff.

Exactly Jerry, if I deleted something by mistake, just resubmit it.
Better yet, take your deleted plays and re-work them and submit again.
This is such a non-issue except that people are taking it personally.
I did deleted some AT plays from 2002 and did have moist eyes for a while

Re: 520 plays
Jerry, the difference between never being called and not being called in three seasons is a VERY HUGE difference. Three seasons is nothing.
I could spend every week re-submitting viable plays only to have them or similar plays deleted in three seasons. 4 per week, 64 per season, 192 total. My question is, why would I do that? It would be a huge waste of time.
If having a large and diverse playpool has more downside than upside, why create new plays? With the current approach to purging, it doesn't help the diversity of the playpool at all.
There is a time and place for handing off to LB1 at the goal-line, but since I haven't been there in three seasons I have to jump through extra hoops to do so? That doesn't make sense. Vanilla you shall have...

Re: 520 plays
Justin, this is first time in league history we ever had a purge of this size in 43 seasons!!!
The last time was many seasons ago and was tame.
This is not going to happen again anytime soon.

Re: 520 plays
The Cards are the most diverse play calling team in the league and do look to find plays that may work in a given situation and against a certain opponent. So I understand your point, but nothing is banned. They can be resubmitted at anytime to include the week they turn out to be worth adding to your plan without the opponent knowing it is coming. Charlie may even put a few back in now if you have a few that have been in plans and just not called or in the less used categories.
I also would understand a simple discussion about hey, lets do 4 seasons of data next time instead of three, but I know for sure if there is a routinely good play the Cards would have been all over it in the near term. No one looks for advantages more than the Cards.
It feels like issue has had more posts and emails than anything ever, including 2 DL defenses and the salary cap. Hence my confusion

I agree that we should delete plays but doing it in a SMART WAY. Going by what's in the log files is flawed. For instance, RR defense got hit the hardest, and it is one of the weakest categories (and no where near 520) in the play pool. This is because we are putting 6 RR in our game plans and not using them very often in our profiles, so few RR defenses are called, and SEVERAL very solid RR defense were purged.
There are no easy fixes to this issue, trying to do an easy fix like this cause as many6 problems (if not more) that it solves.
Bottom line is, this purge was RETARDED, it should never be repeated in this fashion. Next time we should instead ask each team that has submitted plays to voluntarily (as I tried to do) submit a list of their own under-used or no longer effective plays to delete. That's a little more work for a LOT better results.

Re: 520 plays
The problem is coming up with a way that is both easy and can confirm whether a play was included in a gameplan or not. I don't think anyone wants to go through three seasons worth of gameplans to identify if a play was included or not.
