I think it's important we try to live up to the VPNFL vision as much as we can. If we update our current rules to what I suggested, those revisions ensure we truly align to the original VPNFL vision for the categories. They also move us past the 'defend the LOS' concern in an effective and easy to check way.

I'm also in favor of eliminating the 33%/50% 2DL restriction. We lost Rob Boysen as a coach permanently because of this restriction. He emphasized a full 2DL defense that took him to the Super Bowl (lost to Jerry). It's also what he used in E.A. Galat's league before he ever joined the XFBS and PNFL.

The point is 2DL defenses are used as run defenses. It is very common to use a LB slide closer to a line and bring up a Safety while using 3 CB to deal with pass coverage. This is pretty normal NFL things. To say 2DL shouldn't be on running defense isn't realistic. Hell this isn't even that new Giants used it in Super Bowl 25. If we want to really be NFL it should be allowed with no percentages and allowed in all play types.

The point of 2DL defense is to give more flexibility to deal with different situations that is why they are becoming more common.

Make it easy... no percentage restrictions since the NFL has used 2 DL plays since 1937.

The percent is only there because some coaches don't realize 2-DL is really easy to beat. Less restriction of plays and playmaking will lead to better coaching. Restriction just lead to lazy coaching.

Do we limit time passed for the same reason? Rollouts? QB runs?

I still remember beating Andy Thomas when he was undefeated in the CSFL using almost all timed passes because I put point zones on them and had 4 INTs and won the game 42-14. If we lifted that limit, as James said about 2-DL defenses, an offense heavy in timed passes is easy to beat too. Unbalanced coaching when scouted well can be beaten.

2-dl only work well if you were playing a pass heavy team. Very few coaches struggle against it. That being said the ones that works super well were the 7+ DB and no one is call for that to be a thing.

It wasn't like timing and rollout which work way too well. Dean you know this because it was never a problem in XFBS.
