Re: rule change proposal - late season IR

The reason I ask is, injuries in the PNFL are maybe 25% of what they are in the NFL. (I have no data)
We pretend we want realism but not with injuries. Coaches might cry and quit if they had to deal with the injuries in the NFL.
But you are right, an NFL player who we see is O-3 heading into the championship games would just be dumped on IR and a waiting Antonio Brown could be signed.
Is that what we want?
It's another step in making injuries easier for teams. If everyone wants this, I'm fine with it.
If Charlie is good with it, we can make this happen right away.

I kinda liked the idea if a team got hit hard by injuries down the stretch (but not IR eligible) than he had to deal with the bad luck.
If that meant cutting players too! Btw, I am not even 100% sure in the NFL you even allowed to cut injured players yet we allow it.

But it can be placed into a bigger basket of rules where we make them easy enough to handle rendering them pointless.
Such as the salary cap. Nobody really wants a struggle here and very few teams seem to have a hard time managing, yet we want to keep it.
My question might be, why? If the cap isn't going to tear your heart out like it does NFL teams, what's the point?

I'm off topic but you get my point.

I would welcome more injuries on the whole, I have always thought a utility that multiplies the injury ratings the week they are suffered would be a slam dunk for this league. High EN makes the gameplay more realistic, players don't wear down that much in real life, but the trade off is that the high EN does indeed lead to a lack of injuries.

As far as my proposal, my team dealt with the injury bug in the playoffs last season, no complaints, but I did realize it's not what the NFL does. Here's a couple articles as evidence:

https://www.si.com/nfl/chiefs/news/chiefs-place-eric-fisher-willie-gay-on-injured-reserve

https://www.buccaneers.com/news/bucs-place-alex-cappa-injured-reserve-sign-earl-watford-roster-move

I bring it up not because I don't feel we should encounter adversity from injuries, only with the thought of running parallel with the (non-COVID) NFL IR rules. If the league officers don't like it, I tried to put it out there, but we can move on...

I'm not vehemently opposed :)
I'm neutral to be honest.

And I see your point from those links. One team did it and called up players from PS, another signed a free agent.

I will confess, I try and look for the loopholes in any new rule.
It opens up a conversation and others ask questions too.

We will add this to the rules with one caveat...any free agent signed to replace an injured player (less than 6 weeks hurt) will not be eligible to have his potential dice rolls transferred to another player.
This is the potential loophole as I see it.

Player A gets hurt for 3 weeks.
Playoff team places him on IR, signs a veteran FA to replace him.
Season ends, recently signed veteran is dropped to bottom of depth chart for retirement.
Team can now use his dice roll to enhance another one of his possible retirements.

This scenario would be beyond the spirit of the rule to simply replace an injured player late in the season.

Yes to the IR replacement late in season, no to utilizing that players dice to anyone but himself.

Well, if we do this...what about putting on IR with the designation to return that was implemented some time ago in the NFL?
