Re: Playing without the game CD

I just got FPS Football '98 running on a new Windows 11 system, but it's making me mount the CD despite CDNeeded=No and AudioPBP=Off. :?

On my older Windows 11 system I was able to actually install the game, but apparently Windows 11 has since been updated to no longer allow 16-bit installers, so I ended up just copying the files over from my old system. Despite not being installed, the game seems to run fine (so far) other than requiring the CD. I'll post an update if I find a solution.

This took waaaaaay too long, but I finally figured it out. If setting CDNeeded=No and AudioPBP=Off never worked for you to prevent the prompt for the game CD, it's because your system doesn't have a CD-ROM drive. With those settings, the game still checks to make sure the system has a CD-ROM drive - it just no longer checks that the actual game CD is inserted/mounted. :o So, on a system that doesn't have a physical CD-ROM drive (like my new system), you can mount any .iso or .img, and the game will no longer prompt for the game CD when CDNeeded=No and AudioPBP=Off.
