Question: Linemen standing up

It seems like years ago I read that FBPRO leagues required all linemen to line up in a down position due to potential AI issues. I could be wrong.
However, assuming that it doesn't cause an AI issue, would there be an issue with us creating plays where D-Linemen are in a stand up position? I was watching some games recently and noticed how in some packages, the DEs were standing up. These weren't OLBs, they were the DEs.
Just curious...

Have you created any plays where defensive lineman are not in a down position, I just assumed they always line up that way.

Yes. If you position your DLs outside the tackle box wide enough, they will start in a standing position. If you line them up too far away from the LOS, they will start in a standing position.

I think the transfer to the new forum dropped the 3 point stance part. The gist of the rule was that a player classified as a DL for the number of DL in the play rules were the ones in a 3 point stance.

Good question! Mitch is correct. Off the top of my head, I do not see a problem. I see it in the NFL, but it is usually only one DL out of three or four, not the whole damn line. Make a proposal and let's see what the other guys think.

Might be wrong about this but I swear it’s normal for 4-3 defenses as the DE is treated as an OLB and teams with 4-3 defense will draft fast LB-like DEs.
