We had a big debate a couple of months ago about passer ratings in the PNFL. We compared the passer ratings of QBs in today's NFL to our PNFL QBs. Obviously, the QBs in today's NFL have much higher passer ratings. I remember I looked back at the NFL ratings back in 1998 and 1999. The PNFL QB ratings were closer to the QB ratings of the late '90s. That's not a surprise since the game we play came out in 1997.
However, I was looking at some stats from 1985 today. I decided to look at the passer ratings of the QBs. Believe it or not, the QB passer ratings are nearly identical to the PNFL passer ratings.
1985 NFL Passer Ratings:
3 QBs with a 90+ rating (no one over 100)
9 of the top 18 rated QBs had a rating under 80
2 QBs with 60%+ comp % (highest 61.3%, Joe Montanta)
6 of the top 18 QBs had comp % under 55%
3 QBs avg 8+ yards per attempt (highest 8.5)
Lowest yards per attempt in the top 18 of QBs was 6.8
I saw all if this because it looks like our passing game is more in line with 1985. I love '80s football. Maybe that's why I love this game. Of course, with that in mind, I need to ensure my gameplanning and profile match the era.
