As mentioned late in the season, I have been making a concerted effort to identify dupes (a.k.a. clones) of certain plays and limit their availability by deleting the less successful clones. For example, the highly used JJ7XPcrZ and JJ5ZPcrX and their “flips” represent twenty-two of our plays in the Pass Medium Middle and Left categories (my bad over 36-seasons). These plays are effective when they connect, but for the most part do not complete more than 50%, and some have relatively sizeable sacks. As such, I will be deleting most of these with three of the best survivors in each of the Medium Middle and Left categories. When the new database is released after the Super Bowl, and you call up your Offensive Plans, you might see “Play Not Found”, which will probably be one or more of these plays. Sorry for the change, but diversity is the name of the game, and with this many cloves, you literally can meet the minimum requirement for a couple of categories and virtually have the same play in each cell. Than is not what we want!
By way of further clarification, if you copy a play and change the primary WR receiver WR and change him to another WR, that is a clone. If you change a secondary, and so forth receiver route and leave the primary receiver unchanged, and is looked at first by the QB, that is a clone. If you change the primary WR to a TE, HB or FB, I will consider those, as they have different attributes, and will most likely have different defender coverages.
Also, I will be deleting OR22PD01 and OR23PD01, as they are both clones of MN23PDCN, the earliest version. With the limited requirement for Pass Dazzle defense, we also do not need three of the four play requirement in this category to be identical. BTW, I understand that there are other clones throughout the play pool, but I do not want to pillage the play pool all at once. If you know of, and have serious concerns about certain plays, please let me know and I will consider further action.
