SIM Crash

Postby Charlie-49ers » Mon Sep 28, 2026 10:28 am

For some reason I am now getting random game (SIM) crashes with the following ERROR message:

D:\FB98\Code\A\Sim\Playcall.cpp:351()

Any suggestions?

Does this happen after a game is finished or part way through a sim game that is not finished?

Maybe you have a corrupted play file, or there's an invalid path in the game plan? I think I saw a file or two recently that were in the wrong path.

My guess is a profile or game plan error. Same thoughts as Brian. Calling a play category that is not in a plan or something similar

Delete the GAME00 folder from the FBPRO98 directory

Simming 49ers offense against 49ers defense. Game will crash at different times.

SF63Grun is not in the defensive plans

There is no GAME00 in the directory, only GAME0000, which I have deleted several times as that is the designation for any new SIM when I start over.

Last, I have the required plays in every category, so it is not possible to call a play type without there being several plays in that category.

Reload the game???

I have a full copy of the FPBro98 folder in my shared folder, and any time one any VM one of the playcall errors happens that is not fixed by deleting the game0000 folder, I reload from that folder and it quickly cklears up the issue. I do this at least a few times per week when I am doing a lot of simming.

This is quicker than a full re-install of the game from the ISO and re-doing of the 1.08 patch, and almost always fixes the issue.

I occasionally get the crash on the injury error, this is a rare instance of a team lacking enough players due to injuries in game. I just resume the sim without doing anything and the remaining games will run.

In other words, y es reload the game. I used the backup of the full FBPro98 folder in my share folder as a quick and efficient way to re-load the game on any VM where it gets corrupted and crashes with the annoying playcall errors that otherwise are not easily fixed.
