Steve, for the record, making it the middle segment wasn't my idea. I was asked 2 days before the show if I would be on the show and I went back and forth a bunch before doing it. In the pre-show talk my post was brought up, and that is why we talked about it. I didn't even think about talking about it until someone else suggested it. I probably wouldn't have posted about it if you hadn't joked about tanking again and I hadn't just heard about NBA debating anti-tanking policy.
I suggested that discussing "the tanking issues" be PART of our second segment on the show. It has bubbled up on the forum and usually when this happens, we discuss it on the show.
Tanking happens in some cases, and later in the season, there is a higher chance of it. A 5-8 team that is eliminated from winning a playoff spot has zero incentive to make extra effort to win games and more incentive, in thinking of draft position, to go 5-11 instead of 7-9 or 8-8 and barely missing the playoffs and taking a draft position several spots below a 5-11 team.
At the end of the day, if you don't like tanking, don't tank. Prefer viewing the idea of trying to win ever game no matter what as more honorable, then simply do that. We all run our teams in different ways and makes our own choices. The masters of condensation may or may not agree with your choices.
