Retirements & Anti-Aging

Postby Rich-League Officer » Mon Jul 01, 2019 10:46 am

Beginning with 2040 season, we are going to directly link Retirements and Anti-Aging.
You will ignore any and all retirements posted inside the game after the new season starts.

The Process:

New Season starts
The league will identify all the veteran players who AGE (7yrs) inside fbpro98 as either Protected or Not Protected Inside the contract file.
Protected players will have their age colored Lime Green inside the contract file.
Unprotected players will have the age colored Yellow inside the contract file.
The Yellow players are the only players who can Age and/or Retire the following season.
All other players are protected from Age & Retirement the following season.

The leagues first event each new season will be to determine which Yellow players will Age and/or Retire next season.
This process will consist of each Yellow player in the league taking a "Physical"
If the player passes his Physical, he becomes a Dark Green player is now Protected next season.
If the player fails his Physical, he becomes a Red Player and will Age & possibly Retire next season.
Coaches will no longer submit dice rolls. This process can take place without any intervention by a coach.

What is a Physical?
A Physical is the process where the league rolls 2 dice using an online random dice roller.
The chart used is roughly the same one we used for over 3 decades to process Retirements.
QB/K/P have a different chart than regular position players. And HB/LB age slightly faster than others.
Chart is below.

This new system for Retirements & Anti-Aging will now process these players in the pre-season instead of post Super Bowl.
You will now know ahead of time who is going to Age and/or Retire much earlier to plan your rosters accordingly.
For some players, they will play out their final season and enjoy a final retirement tour around the league.

This new process will cost teams 0 points. There is no longer a 3 point per player to Anti-Age.
It can happen automatically with no input from you.

Can I transfer "rolls" to other players the way we did with Retirements for the last 3 decades?
The answer is Yes under certain conditions. Coaches are under no obligation to use transfers.
***Only players who reside on a teams 53 man roster from week one of the season prior are eligible.
**Keep in mind, you are only transferring the roll to another player, not the odds of success from the other player**

There are conditions which disqualify a player from being able to transfer his roll.
***Free Agents signed during the regular/post season do not qualify because they fail to reside on a roster from week one.
***Players traded in season lose their transfer eligibility to discourage teams from acquiring players for this purpose.
There will be a designation made inside the contract file to track this.

Player/Color Definitions
Lime Green = Protected/Passed Physical
Yellow = Player needs Physical
Red = Player Failed Physical
Dark Green = Player Passed Physical

Q&A
1. What designation does a veteran free agent acquired in the pre-season get?
Based on his age, he's either a Green or Yellow player.
If he's Yellow, he will take a Physical upon signing.

2. What if I sign a veteran free agent during the regular season?
Based on his age, he's either a Green or Yellow player
If he's Yellow, he gets a Physical upon signing.
But he is not eligible to transfer his roll the next season.

3. What if I acquire a Green player during the season?
Green players do not need a physical.
If they turn Yellow the following season, they cannot be transferred.

4. Is it possible to trade for a Yellow player?
Players will only be Yellow a short time in the pre-season before their physicals.
Trading is closed during this short window.

5. When do acquired free agents receive a Physical if they already took place?
Any Yellow player acquired in free agency will take a Physical upon signing.
Any veteran free agent not showing any color is assumed Yellow and requires a physical.

6. What happens to the player who transferred his roll to another player?
That Player immediately fails his Physical and becomes Red.

7. Can I trade for a Red player?
Yes, but this player has no chance to avoid aging after the season. He would be a classic short term rental.
And he likely retires at seasons end.

8. What happens to Red players?
Players who failed their physicals turn Red, they play the season at full strength. At the end of the season, teams can choose to cut them. Or they are dropped to an inactive slot on a teams roster encouraging them to retire.

9. Do I need to submit an rmupdate before we press the "Start New Season" button?
No, you do not. The league office takes control of all roster slots.
Any player who failed a Physical will be dropped to an inactive slot.

10. What if a Red player is dropped to inactive but doesn't retire?
He remains part of your team and you will decide his fate.
He will have aged but he can play on until you cut him.

As we approach a new season (2041), all teams should read the above thread and re-learn the new system.
