I just have to have a little fun with the AFC after all that smack talk last season about how much better the AFC was than the NFC and the possibility of a losing team in the NFC making the playoffs. That is an AFC. Fun fact since the league went down to 18 teams a losing team making the playoffs has happened 3 times. All 3 times it was in the AFC 2041(New England),2035(Seattle),2018(New England).

If you switch any NFC team with Denver only Detroit would not make the playoffs.

Also, Detroit was 3-2 vs the AFC and 2-1 vs AFC Playoff teams.
In fact, the only team without a winning record against AFC teams was Chicago who went 2-2
Only AFC teams without a losing record against the NFC
Jets 3-2
Oakland 2-2
LA 2-2

AFC12-28 .300 vs NFC

Matt and Barney had down years. I'm sure they will rebound and bring back some balance. :)

AFC has won 12 of the last 20 SBs
6 of the last 10.
3 of the last 4.
And ultimately, that's what it's all about. :)

No one is saying the Jets are one of the 2 best teams.

You could also make a case that Detroit and Niners had off years. The truth is AFC is exactly who we thought they were from the start. AFC Least and Worst. Mitch, how many division titles did you have in the NFC?

Oh just to point out how that Super Bowl stat is misleading. The last AFC team to win a Super Bowl not from New York was Lee with San Diego in 2031 season. Half of the current coaches weren't even in the league and Mitch joined that season. The only AFC coaches in the league at that time were Thomas, Steve, and Mitch. Mitch one of the top coaches in the AFC is only 7-5 against the bottom of the NFC Detroit.
Interesting fact last 30 seasons only 3 AFC coaches have won a Super Bowl Lee, Rich, and Thomas.

Let's see that AFC pride this coming season and prove me wrong. Maybe you can get 2 teams with winning records against the NFC. I have faith in you.

We have a lot of good coaches in Both Conferences. There just happen to be a lot more coaches with experience in NFC. 4 coaches have 30+ season in the NFC(2 with 40+) and 0 in the AFC. 20+ NFC has 5 and AFC has 2. NFC averages 22 years of coaching experience vs AFC 9.33.

NFC East(27.75)
Jerry 40 (2-2 Super Bowls)
James 30
Dean 23
Shawn 18

NFC West (17.4)
Charlie 44 (0-4 Super Bowls)
Justin 30 (3-1 Super Bowls)
Bryan 6
Marc 5
Frederic 2

AFC East (11.25)
Thomas 29 (5-4 Super Bowls)
Matt 10
Stephen 4
Tim 2

AFC West(7.8)
Steve 20
Mitch 13
Barney 5
Neil 1
Donovan 0

Poor Marc went from being tied for 5 in coaching experience in his conference to being 8th. Welcome to the meat grinder.

@James - you are correct. I couldn't get past the NY Giants during my 3 seasons in the NFC East. However, I was able to make the playoffs all 3 seasons and reach the NFC title game.

I'm not sure I'd say DET or SF just had a down year this year since both teams have only finished above .500 3 times in the last 10 seasons. If anything, I'd say SF had a rebound season this past season.
