Make it 18 teams to match the PNFL and do East, Central, and West

EAST
-----
Florida
Florida St.
Clemson
Penn St.
Miami
Georgia

Central
-------------
Arkansas
Alabama
LSU
Ohio St.
Michigan
Iowa

West
----------
UCLA
USC
A&M
Texas
Boise St.
Oklahoma

I think this works better:

EAST
-----
Florida
Florida St.
Tennessee
Penn St.
Syracuse
Georgia

Central
-------------
Arkansas
Alabama
LSU
Ohio St.
Michigan
Oklahoma

West
----------
UCLA
USC
Oregon
Texas
Washington
Colorado

I had A&M for their rivalry with Texas and Iowa in case Rob wanted to come back.

I think you need to choose the teams so that they each have a rival and would play the last game of the season. Just as an example:

East

Pittsburgh
Penn State
Miami
Florida State
Alabama
Auburn

Midwest

Michigan
Ohio State
Arkansas
Texas
Nebraska
Oklahoma

West

USC
UCLA
TCU
Texas Tech
Oregon
Washington

One other thing I thought of. Instead of a draft each team gets 12 recruits per year with a total pool of points that you could assign while staying within Min-Max. Eg: For a QB: 640 points actual with 660 points potential.
Frosh QB
Act 75-75-75-96-65-78-92-84
Pot-78-78-78-96-70-84-92-84

I would actually make the points lower, but that’s just an example.

That's a great idea, instead of the recruiting process, each coach would submit the ratings (with parameters like you suggested) of their 12 recruits and they get created and signed to the teams.

For each position, there would be total points for actuals and pts as above, and min and max for each of the 8 ratings, by position.

You guys must be getting really bored if you are trying to get me to resurrect the XFBS.

You seem to have forgotten one thing. We have been spoiled to watch our games on YouTube. Do you think I have time to be like Rich and record 9 sims per week? Do you? I'd have to figure out how he uses the macro thing to run them because I sure as hell won't want to sit there and watch all of them.

And if I did bring it back, I would continue where we left off. Rosters won't change. I would need to replace/update the whole website. I would 100% align the rules to the PNFL. I would eliminate the XFBS play pool and mandate the use of the existing PNFL play pool only (I'm not going to review custom plays). I would convert recruiting to a FA point-based bidding system (Extra points rewarded based on finish). No draft. I would use PNFL CPU PPPs for any unowned teams. I'm sure several of you would hate these restrictions & ways of doing things, but I've had plenty of time to think of exactly how I would run it.

A revived XFBS would have much looser restrictions on rollouts, QB keepers and 2-DL defenses in game plans than the PNFL. It's college.
