WR Amari Rodgers, drafted in the fourth round, has exceeded expectations and has competed for a starting spot in training camp. Rodgers has won the fourth spot, a starting position in Kansas City's 4-WR lineup used in most passing plays, and has beat two veteran WRs, Shelton Gibson and Daurice Fountain, that started last season. Antonio Gibson, Quintez Cephus, and recently signed FA Javon Wims will be the first three targets this season for Justin Fields. WR Shi Smith, taken in the 2039 draft, wins the 5th WR spot while Fountain and Shelton Gibson will share kick and punt return duties and provide depth in the passing game as well.
Daniel Braverman retired from last year's team and Breshad Perriman was trade to Chicago for a much needed LB.
It has been reported that Chiefs jerseys with #83, that of Amari Rodgers, have suddenly become a huge seller among Chiefs fans, second only to the sales of the popular 87 Chiefs jerseys.
