Down 14-0, came back, went to OT, drove the ball to Dallas 22 and Elvis got picked off.
It's my 3rd worst loss only behind losing SB3 on a missed FG and then losing to Jerry in SB16.
I still hate Jerry and Ty Dennis 15 years later...lol

That loss to William in the NFC Championship when I was the Saints my first season when he scored with about 45 seconds left to take the lead and the win...still stings to this day.

I have 2 of those games
https://pnfl.biz/Seasons/2021/2021%20Playoffs.html
When I was Oakland was up 19-7 on Miami(Rich) with 8 minutes left and squib kicked it. 4 minutes later I was down 20-19.
Then I had the lead with just over 2 minutes left 22-20
That is the closest I have ever been to beating Rich.

Jerry and I went to double overtime. It was the year the headless horseman of Carolina beat Chicago and Washington to make it to the Super Bowl. This was probably my best shot at going to a Super Bow.

I had no business winning that game James.....12 yd pass and a 50yd run and suddenly it was 19-14. On the very next play with the crowd roaring, you fumbled the ball :) Less than 2 min later, 20-19 as my 2pt conv failed. You battled back, kicked a FG but left me 2:29 left. Got a 46yd return to set it up. 20yd TD to my FB! for the win. And for some reason on 4th down you punted :)
You ever fix that? lol

I think after that game I didn't look at the game for awhile. I felt like I complete controlled that game until the final 8 minutes. It also hurts because I never beat you and that is the closest I got. It is part of the reason I want you to come back and coach. It hurt when William retired because I never beat him either.

The interesting thing is how some of the better coaches never forget losses. Justin who for the longest time I thought I hadn't beat reminded me I sweep him in 05 his first season in the league. I haven't beat him since.

That's why I stopped coaching James and will never return.
The losses hurt 10x more than the wins feel good.
I lost all motivation to do what it takes to win.
But clearly there was divine intervention in that game :)
Especially since you controlled the clock too.
It was hard to even get the ball and then I had to be perfect when I had it.
And QB Henne got hurt so my backup was the hero in the 2nd half.
I just noticed, you fumbled 5x (lost 1) but that certainly had to mess up your drives.
I got lucky.

Remember it's still a computer sim and luck plays a bigger part than many of us realize.

I agree that there is randomness that happens in the game. However, winning 46 games in a row and 7 straight Super Bowls takes more than luck.

I just reread the log of that game and I want almost want to quit. It hurt to read.
I went up 16-0. I started the game with an 8 minute drive. I remember thinking I need to control the ball and hope to slow you down. I did everything I need to win.
I went all in to try to win that year. I ended up falling short. I was so old I ended up starting the blow. I wish the trades were still around. I was such a bad GM back then. Eric used me as a farm team. That is when I decided I was going to build a team right and moved to Detroit when Jerry and Dean swapped teams. I focused on seeing how many draft picks I could get in one year.

There is no doubt Rich caused all of the James trading and stuff and broke him. He obviously needs an exorcism to get the evil memories out.

That's some serious baggage to carry. Far worse than losing the 2041 SB. sure I would liked to have won that game, but it was over-achieving for my team to even get to that game and winning it would have been an upset.

Losing the 2041 SB was relatively easy to come back from. For me, losing the ECCFL SB I played in, I think in 2001 or early 2002, was that kind of situation. The league lost coaches as some retired in reaction to Sierra pulling the plug on the game, and I retired in 2002 from FBPro98 not to return until I joined this league on Sept 11, 2011.
