Radical Idea

Postby Mitch-Oilers » Sat Dec 09, 2023 11:04 am

During the upcoming off-season, we only make these changes:

- Delete unused plays from the play pool just as we did a few seasons ago

- Move the PPP deadline to Friday at mid-night EST

Need to allow Rich who I believe is on PST to play games that have PPPs submitted at the deadline. Unless, we decide to continue games to be played on Saturdays and just have the deadline be Friday night.

I think Rich needs to be the lead here as he plays the games. Currently if folks do not wait until the last minute we get the files for first thing Sunday morning. This gives all of Sunday and most of Saturday. If The deadline is 12 Friday, I suspect we will lose Saturday and still only get to start Sunday morning. Lately we have even loss pieces of Sunday for the last minute submissions. I think just backing up the deadline between 3 to 12 hours may be better. Leaves some of the last day Saturday and would guarantee Sunday morning.

It's still all on Rich , as it is his time being used.

I like the idea of having them in by midnight Friday PST, then give Rich all day Saturday and all day Sunday to sim the games. I would think we could be done Saturday at a reasonable time if this were the case. If we got any late (ie Saturday in the early am) this would still give Rich plenty of time to get things done before Sunday unless he has RL stuff that gets in the way.

I think there should be another rule added. If your PPP is rejected and not fixed by the deadline you revert back to your previous weeks PPP. If you choose to wait until the last minute to submit a PPP than that would be a risk you take.
I know mistakes happen I have had my PPP returned a few times this season for mistakes. I submitted those early and had them fixed before the deadline.

MORE radical (but sensible) idea:

DELETE 2 unnecessary rules every time we add a new one. We have too many rules.

We could simulate the NFL a little further and have a rules committee made up of vets from each division and Charlie could rep his division. They could review the rules each offseason and put forth proposed changes for the rest of us to vote on unless it's something that Charlie or Rich deem necessary and just implement.

I didn't suggest staging a coup against the league officers.
