Going through my game plans to look for missing plays and so far have found:
1 PRD play I asked to be saved that is missing, I will submit that to Charlie.
Some plays missing, that were deleted, that I didn't request get saved. I missed these when going through my game plans, so this is my fault, they are gone. Some will be replaced with new submissions later this season.
An issue to think about, that I will be tracing this season. Remember that not all plays that are USED (put in an actual game plan that is submitted to Charlie and Rich) are actually called in the game. You can include 6 PSL plays and only 4 get called in the game. This is more true woth lesser used play categories like PSR or GLP, etc. So for future purges we need to keep in mind that good plays can be used (put in game plans) but not called in games, and are subject to being purged despite the fact that one us identified them as good plays in sim data and put them in game plans.
I am noticing lesser used categories like RR, RL, GLR got hit the hardest by the purge because they are less used. This weakened already weak categories even further.
This purge was based on THREE seasons of log data, will this be true of future purges, and if so, should we repeat this process every three off-seasons accordingly?
Going forward, we shoul all track more effectively which plays are more important for use in our game plans so we can use them or lose them in future purges.

I appreciate your work to push new things into the play pool and want it to continue. I definitely use them, but you have not lost any plays. If the play is good in your opinion then just resubmit it. I know that is part of the game you enjoy like I enjoy the player management side. I appreciate and understand you are more vested in that part than others. So look at the purge as making room for more plays and sim away.

Re: A few reflections on The Great Purge
I see it the way Dean sees it, this purge was overkill. What’s done is done. But it makes zero sense that if the reason for purging is some folders getting too close to the max, that the folders with the least plays get hit hardest.
In the future, I would like to submit that a better way would be to put the playmakers on notice that submitting a new play requires deleting of an existing play.
And no, I am not going to resubmit any plays. I’m not usually a playmaker but I did that last time this happened, only to see a chunk of them deleted this time around. Huge waste of time.
I’d encourage the playmakers to think long and hard about what they’re submitting, if it’s not adopted immediately then it’s just a waste of time. And the less plays are submitted, the longer we can go before doing this process again.

Re: A few reflections on The Great Purge
I appreciate everyone who makes plays it helps out the league more than I can express because it keeps us moving forwards.
I see your points on the lesser called play categories. I would think every year purgers would be better for everyone except Rich and may be even him. This would cut down on the number of plays being purged so could make it easier so easy to replace in the off-season. It might help play creator easier see the direction of the league coaches. I really believe a well manicured selection of good plays benefits the league.
I am more in the aspect with Jerry. I am more a GM than a coach. My stuff is the idea of building a team. I am more a GM than a coach. I want to repeat the plays dean and other make greatly benefit the league. It make every season a new challenge.

Hmm if it is done every year. There could be also a list of plays submitted the previous year that were call given to the league. That way play makers and coaches who like the play can either try to call it more or if it is in the lesser called category let it be known it is in their game plans. I really think purges more often will also help this because it is fewer plays. If you wait to play folders are near make it requires great purgers. I rather we refine the plays with a knife instead of an axe.

I don't see a problem with the purge. Just an opportunity to make Charlie miserable again with lots of custom play submissions.

Very few of my plays were lost, that I did not request be lost. There were a few I missed putting on the save list and already have those slated for revision and re-submission. But most of the plays I missed were plays submitted by other teams, including a few forgotten about JJ plays that are quite good.

This is generally a good idea, and the reason I submitted lists of my own plays asking for them to be deleted.

Re: A few reflections on The Great Purge
Obviously the purge will not happen every season, and maybe not every 3 seasons. Depends on the new plays that arrive.
But the logic I just can't wrap my head around is, if you submit some plays and you don't see them as worthy to use in any of your game plans for 48-57 games and no other coach sees them worthy, then the play obviously is ineffective. Somewhere along the way in 50 games x 18 teams = 900 plans the play would be called if it had any value.
Yes, it hurts to see it deleted if you put time into creating it but clearly it's been a swing n miss.
And, the further away the creation date, the worse a play does.
The idea is quality over quantity.
Therefore, being deleted is the correct approach to streamline the database, not just for overblown folders but for all coaches trying to prepare.
Why burden new coaches with 1000 extra shit plays on offense and another 700 on defense.
You know they stink but the new coach is lost in a sea of garbage.
