The players POTENTIAL plays zero role in their salary.
For example, the players in 2036 have contracts based on their 2035 talent level.
The 2035 players will have salaries based on their 2034 talent level.
Because this is a manual system, it must be this way.
Free agents will have salaries based on their talent in the current season.

How each player is rated and evaluated is my own formula which is not revealed to anyone including the commissioner of the league.
But my evaluation is also not rocket science and everyone would come to similar results.

The 2039 Salary Cap/Floor = $220M/$187M
The 2038 Salary Cap/Floor = $217M/$184M
The 2037 Salary Cap = $213M
The 2036 Salary Cap = $210M
The 2035 Salary Cap = $208M
The 2034 Salary Cap = $210M
All player salaries are found inside your contract file.
You will see the current years salary and his projected salary next year.
Players placed on your Practice Squad will only count 10% of their salary toward the cap.
If you have a player making $500,000, his cap number is $50,000 if he resides on the PS.
Promoting him escalates his cap $ to $500,000.
Player salaries and contract years inside the contract file are not linked. The red X next to a players name indicates he is signed that season.
But even if you sign a player to a 5 year deal, his salary will change yearly based on his attributes.
