Mitch Horrible Take AFC better?

Postby James-Eagles » Sun Dec 03, 2023 11:09 am

AFC vs NFC yes there is more parity in the AFC but are they better

AFC Est
Jets 1-1
New England 0-3
Indianapolis 0-3
Jacksonville 1-2

AFC West
Kansas City 2-0
Minnesota 0-2
Los Angeles 1-2
Pittsburgh 2-1
Las Vegas 2-2

So only 2 teams(Kansas City and Pittsburgh) are above .500 against the NFC. Kansas City hasn't lost to a NFC.

NFC East
Washington 2-0
Detroit 1-2
Atlanta 1-2
New York 2-1

NFC West
Chicago 2-1
San Fran 2-0
New Orleans 2-0
Anaheim 3-1
Seattle 1-2

3 teams are below .500 against AFC. Detroit Atlanta and Seattle. 3 teams that haven't lost to AFC team . Washington, San Fran, and New Orleans.
2043 AFC 8-16
2042 AFC 20-20
2041 AFC 12-28
2040 AFC 26-14
2039 AFC 23-17

AFC hasn't been better in 3 season.

To be clear this is taking out all the suppose beating AFC teams do to each other. Makes it clear with actual data on the supposed deeper myth.

AFC Deeper? Myth
In out of conference games
Of the top 5 teams 4 are in the NFC
of the top 10 teams 6 are the NFC
That means in the bottom 8 there is 5 AFC teams
I guess you could say AFC is deeper at the bottom?

1.A-Kansas City 2-0
1.N-Washington 2-0
1.N-San Fran 2-0
1.N-New Orleans 2-0
5.N-Anaheim 3-1
6.A-Pittsburgh 2-1
6.N New York 2-1
6.N Chicago
9.A Las Vegas
10.A Jets 1-1

I don't know how you determine who is better.
I do know the AFC has won 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls
And it's not just the Jets but Chargers won too.

I think I see it as Jets + one of the west teams vs the Cardinals and Redskins.
Pretty even to me.
It's (Jets-Cardinals) on top
3-4 (Redskins-Chiefs rising)

After that, a mixed bag of sometime playoff teams like Lions-49ers-Saints and Chargers-Vikings-Patriots
And then the rest.

I see the PNFL as pretty well balanced at the moment.

I see it as the bottom feeders will occasionally get to bob up for some air (get a softer schedule) and make the playoffs. Then the next season we get held underwater (tougher schedule) and miss the playoffs. So many games come down to 1 score in this league (like several of my games). I have been on the wrong side of those too many times this season, so I stink this season!
#1 overall pick 2041, #1 overall pick 2042 => made the playoffs...

I agree with this for the most part. I would say Detroit and New England probably are witht the rest. I think the AFC supposal Balance is more just teams struggling with division foes and less AFC bottom being better. Just like Washington always gets tough games when they play Detroit. Washington is way a head of Detroit in all aspect including coaching but Detroit usually gets lucky.

This is by design. I think it works pretty well. As coaches get better they rise to the top of the bottom and start getting tested. At some point when you get your head above water. You might start to tread. I mean New England did beat Washington.

I didn't read any opinions in James' post. Or "alternative facts" either.
