Play design challenge - Short Passing

Here is a formula I use to calculate the strength and effectiveness of passing plays, based on data from winlogstats after testing plays in simmed games:

((comp/(att+sacks))*100)+(((comp*(yards per comp))-(sacks*(7)))att)

comp = completed passes
att = attempted passes
yard per completion - as reported in winlogstats
sacks = times play resulted in sack

A passing play of 120 or better is fairly good. I challenge ANY of you to design and create any new plays, short or medium, ion passing that exceed 120 on this score. It's much tougher than you might think, IF you are testing vs solid defensive game plans.

If you create a play that does, I suggest you email me that play, and I will test it in sims against the defenses I am testing against. I doubt it will score 120 or better.

What does the number 7 represent in the formula?

Average of 7 yards lost per sack

Are interceptions accounted for in the formula?

Not in that one.

Does the same formula work for Medium passes and for Timmed passes? What we really need in this league is effective Medium passes. Within that construct, what is the definition of 'effective'? Additionally, WinLog does not take into consideration sacks in Timmed passes, so you need to go to the run category, find the Timmed passes, and move them to the passing category to get an accurate reflection of the play results for any formula you use.

Yes to all of the above... except I [prefer about 130-135 on medium passes but 120 may be good enough. Timed passes with the sacks read frim the run plays tab... these numbers work for them too.

The key here is not the formula or the score you get from it, but WHAT defense you test against.

What is effective depends on your game plan and style of offense. If yiu are designing PSM plays to use mostly on 2nd and 2-5, the play that meets 12 score and has highest completion percentage (such as the KC slot plays for thre zip timed passes) may be the best plays for 2nd and 2-5.

I'd like a few more medium pass plays on offense that average tge following:

50%+ comp%
15+ yards avg per reception
8%+ TD percentage
Under 2% INT %
Under 12% sack %

Are there ANY PML or PMM plays currently in the play files that put up those numbers? If so, what kind of defense did you test them against?
